The perfect combination of old-fashioned scent and modern blooms Sweet Pea ‘High Scent’ is a sweet pea variety with large, bi-coloured flowers on long stems and an intense fragrance that are white with purple edges. The most highly scented of all sweet peas.

Recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit for reliable performance in the garden.

An excellent variety for cutting or cottage gardens.

Grow Notes:

Traditionally the 17th of March, St Patrick's Day, is the date used as a guide for sowing sweet peas in many parts of Australia.

Pre-treatment: Soak the seed in water overnight.

Sow: 25 mm deep.

Tropical climates: Late summer Autumn
Sub-tropical climates: Autumn
Temperate climates: Autumn
Cold climates: Spring or Late summer-mid Autumn.

Germination: 10-14 days.  

Seed can also be started by soaking the seed overnight and placing it on a moist paper towel and folding it over. Put the paper towel with the seed in a plastic bag and place it on top of the refrigerator. Check daily for moisture content and any seed that has germinated. Seed should start to germinate in 3-5 days after which they can be sown at the required depth.   

Sweet peas are typically planted in autumn in southern Australia. They have a growth period throughout the winter, and the flowers are picked during the spring.

Alternatively, Soak sweet pea seeds overnight, and place them on a moist paper towel in a plastic bag on top of the refrigerator. Check daily for moisture and germination, then sow at the required depth.
