The wide ranges of vivid colours include purple, red, rose, white, pink, blue, scarlet, cream, and salmon. Grows well in large containers and does well as a knee high border. Self-supporting.

Traditionally the 17th of March, St Patrick's Day, is the date used as a guide for sowing sweet peas in many parts of Australia.

Seed can also be started by soaking seed overnight and placing on a moist paper towel and folding over. Put the paper towel with the seed in a plastic bag and place on top of the refrigerator. Check daily for moisture content and any seed that has germinated. Seed should start to germination in 3-5 days after which they can be sown at the required depth.
