A fast-growing upright shrub or small tree to 5 metres with aromatic dark green foliage that produces clusters of white waxy looking flowers on mass in spring or autumn.
Often found growing along the edge of swamps and watercourses it grows in a variety of soils from sandy well drained soil to clay. Drought tolerant and frost resistant.

Occurs naturally in the regions of the Avon Wheatbelt, Esperance Plains, Jarrah Forest, Swan Coastal Plain and Warren in the South West Province of Western Australia.

Taxandria linearifolia was first formally named Leptospermum linearifolium beforelater being being remaned as Agonis linearifolia before finally being re-classified as Taxandria.

Generally, it is best sown in spring or autumn, avoiding the coldest and hottest months. The optimum germination temperature for germination is around 18-22°C

Sow the seed on the surface of a porous seed-raising mix and sprinkle a very light covering of the seed-raising mix over the seed. Do not bury the seed deeply.

Seeds generally sprout well when sowed in seed-raising mixes; however, the seedlings may be susceptible to a disease called "damping off". Keeping the seeds moist but not overwatered is recommended to reduce the risk. The germination process should take around 14 to 30 days, depending on the plant species.

*Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to keep them moist but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
