An attractive small resinous shrub that is usually 0.6-4 metres tall and has a rounded or spreading habit.
It produces yellow globular or oblong flowers that are 9 to 13 mm in size and blooms from March to September. The shiny phyllodes (leaves) are initially dark green but eventually age to a grey-green or an attractive blue-grey colour.
The phyllodes are shaped like an oblong spoon and are usually 5 to 8.5 centimetres long and 9 to 28 millimetres wide.
This shrub is widespread in the North and central arid zones, extending from the Pilbara region in Western Australia to north-eastern South Australia and south-west Queensland. It is particularly common in the Simpson Desert.
For best results, sow the seeds in spring or early summer. Sowings in autumn and winter may result in slow germination, weaker seedlings, or germination failure.
- soak in water for 24-48 hours.
- Next, soak seeds in near boiling water overnight to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
- Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.
Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.

- Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
- As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate, keep them moist but not too wet.
