A shrub that typically grows to a height of 0.7 to 3 metres, producing globular to obloid bright yellow flowerheads has a diameter of around 5 mm containing 45 to 60 flowers. The inflorescences occur singly in the axil of the phyllodes.

As with most species of Acacia, it has phyllodes rather than true leaves.

The glabrous phyllodes are straight with a narrowly elliptic shape and are 0.8 to 2.5 cm in length and 1 to 3 mm wide
Occurs naturally over the northern region of all mainland states.

Prefer well-drained soil, drought tolerant. Good tolerance of arid conditions.

Acacia is easy to propagate from seed.

The best time to sow Acacia seed is autumn, Late winter and spring.

  1. Sow in a well drained mix.
  2. Soak in water 24 hours
  3. Next, soak seeds in near boiling water  for 24-48 hours,to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
  4. Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.
  5. Place in a semi-shaded postion.
  6. Keep the soil moist, avoid overwatering and ensure it doesn’t dry out.

Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.

Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lie dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate, keep them moist, but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
  • The customer should do their due diligence that they are suited to their region.
