A fast-growing busy shrub 3 metres tall, commonly known as Notable Wattle or Stiff Golden Wattle, produces bright golden yellow globular flowers from September to October.

The Phyllodes (leaves) are narrowly elliptic to oblanceolate or narrowly oblanceolate, 6–13 cm long.
A good shrub for screening or wind-break in parks and coastal conditions.

VICFLORA Threat status: Endangered

Occurs naturally in South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales

Tolerates many different soils as long as it is well-drained. Full sun to part shade, although flowering will be more profuse in full sun.

For best results, sow the seeds in spring or early summer. Sowings in autumn and winter may result in slow germination, weaker seedlings, or germination failure.

  1.  soak in water for 24-48 hours.
  2. Next, soak seeds in near boiling water overnight to help soften the tough exterior and improve germination.
  3. Sow the seeds to a depth equal to the seed's width.

Germination: Typically occurs within two weeks.

Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to germinate, keep them moist but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
  • The customer should do their due diligence that they are suited to their region.
