Aloe humilis, also known as Spider Aloe, is a small succulent plant that grows in clusters with stemless or short-stemmed rosettes.
These attractive rosettes can grow up to 20 cm with pale blue-green leaves.

The plant blooms in late winter to spring with tubular red to orange spikes and pendulous flowers growing up to 35 cm tall, each measuring 5 cm long.

The secret to growing aloe is to create a free-draining mix that will not become waterlogged. Aloe seeds can be easily propagated in sandy and well-drained potting soil during spring or summer.

Once you've sown the seeds, cover them with a thin layer of sand (1-2mm) and keep the soil moist but not too wet.

It's best to keep the seeds in a warm and shady area.

When the seedlings are sufficiently grown to handle, they can be planted out.
It usually takes about three weeks for the seeds to germinate when the soil temperature is around 23°C.

*Please note:

  • Please do not be too hasty to discard seeds that do not germinate; seeds will often lay dormant until the conditions are similar to their natural germination requirements.
  • As with all seeds, they must have adequate water to keep them moist but not too wet.
  • These growth notes are provided as guidance only and do not guarantee successful germination.
