An erect branching annual herb 40 to 45 cm high that produced masses of blue flowers from July to November.
An attractive ground-covering plant with white, daisy-like flowers measuring 2 cm across, blooming from spring to summer. It is easy to grow and ideal for ground covers, borders, hanging baskets, and tubs.
An adaptable daisy that will grow in a range of soils including sandy, clay or saline soils along watercourses, on sandhills, in depressions over granite.
Prefers an open sunny position but will tolerate some shade. Very hardy and is drought and frost resistant.
Occurs naturally in the Avon Wheatbelt, Carnarvon, Coolgardie, Esperance Plains, Gascoyne, Geraldton Sandplains, Great Victoria Desert, Jarrah Forest, Mallee, Murchison, Pilbara, Swan Coastal Plain, Warren and Yalgoo in Western Australia
The species Brachyscome was first formally described by Swiss botanist Augustin Pyramus de Candolle in his description published in the 5th volume of Prodromus Systematis Naturalis Regni Vegetabilis in 1836
Brachyscome are easy to propagate from seed.
Although seed can be sown most of the year in many parts of Australia seed is generally the best time of the year is August to December, avoid the coldest and hottest months of the year.
Seeds should germinate in around 14-21 days at a soil temperature of 18-21°C
For masses planting the seed can be scatered over the growing area and lighlty raked cover.
