A popular Asian variety that originates from Thailand is widely used in Asian cooking. It is also known as Hmong Red, and it produces bright red, round, ribbed fruits that are about 75mm in diameter on 60-90cm plants.
The fruits taste great when they are green but turn bitter as they mature and become red.
The best time to harvest them is when they are young and green, and they can be used as "miniature pumpkins" in floral arrangements. They grow well in most good garden soils that are composted and free-draining, and require full sun and a long growing season. This plant is considered to be a perennial.
Tropical: Year Round
