Commonly known as the Spurred Snapdragon‘‘Northern Lights" is an annual that has numerous snapdragon-like flowers in shades of pink, yellow, red, purple and violet with yellow patches in the throats and long, pointed spurs. An easily grown plant that flowers in 50 days from seeding. ‘Northern Lights’ is a taller variety, growing from 50-70 cm tall.
Combine with other low-growing annuals in beds, borders or containers. Makes an excellent addition to the rock garden.
Native to Morocco but it can be found elsewhere growing wild as an introduced species, such as California.
Grow notes:
Adaptable to garden most well-drained garden soils in a sunny position. Frost and drought tolerant.
Tropical: Late Summer to Winter.
Temperate: Mid-Summer to Early Winter.
Cool climate: Spring or Autumn.
Sow: on the surface and firm gently, Keep warm and moist,
Sow direct in the growing position for the best results. If sowing in trays transplant when large enough to handle avoiding excessive root disturbance.
Plant in well-drained soil in a sunny position.
Plant space: 10-15cm
Germination: 10-14 days
Flowering: 10 Weeks
