Hollow Crown has a long tapered root to 30 cm, with a shoulder 5-8 cm wide and an excellent flavour. Parsnips have been cultivated in Europe for over 500 years. It is a nutritious root vegetable with a sweet nut-like flavour. Use parsnips like carrots, in soups and stews, or steamed or baked.
Adaptable to most garden soils in a sunny position. Avoid deformed roots by planting them in loose soil free from stones or rocks.

Sow: 6 mm deep
Best sown direct in shallow drills.
